Leadership

The Church of the Epiphany’s Rector is Rev. Lisa White Smith. Lisa began serving Epiphany in 2011. She served several churches in varying capacities on the White Earth Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota for 17 years. Lisa has a Master’s degree from Seabury – Western Theological Seminary, Chicago, and has a bachelor’s degree from Marymount College, Salina, Kansas. She is married to Bishop Michael Smith, Episcopal Bishop of North Dakota. The Smiths have three adult children.

In Episcopal churches, leadership is carried out by members of a Vestry, made up of the Rector of the parish and a number of members of the parish who lead commissions. The executive committee of the vestry is made up of the junior warden, senior warden and the rector.

The canon law of the Episcopal Church charges the vestry with promoting the spiritual welfare of the parish, developing its programs, maintaining the property, maintaining finances and records, and other responsibilities.

At Epiphany, the rector and four officers, senior warden, junior warden, clerk and Treasurer are joined by the heads of eight commissions: Buildings and Grounds, Christian Formation, Church Growth, Communications, Fellowship, Outreach, Stewardship, and Worship and Music.

All vestry members at Epiphany serve three years, except wardens who serve two years.
